| The Drama training is practically based, with a major performance project each term. Training is progressive, with students taking greater responsibility for their own work as the year goes on. Drama students undertake the following major projects each term: |
Term 1 - Performance training focuses on ensemble work, improvisation and writing and performing Story Theatre. The term culminates in a tour of primary schools and an extended public performance at a local community venue. |
Term 2 - Students research and devise from original source material to produce an issue-based Documentary Theatre performance. The production is then toured around secondary schools with an extended version of the piece being performed at a local theatre. Students also receive training from those working within the professional acting field. |
Term 3 - Students receive training in techniques of character development and apply these in script work, culminating in a production at a local performance venue. The student teams also undertake a two week mission tour outside of Birmingham and gain experience of leading drama workshops in a number of different settings. |
