Story Theatre |
Aimed at primary school age children, Story Theatre is a highly visual and engaging style of story telling. Each production uses narrational techniques and minimal props to entertain and enchant the audience. Each production tells two stories, linked together on a theme chosen especially for the children. Previous themes have included lieing, sharing and friendship. A short talk is offered to follow the performance, from a Christian perspective, helping children to apply the experiences of the characters to their own lives. RSPA also offers follow- up workshops exploring either the theme or the genre of physical story telling. Each school is provided with a follow-up pack, giving ideas for Literacy, Drama and RE. |

Documentary Theatre |
RSPA’s highly successful and unique style of Documentary Theatre tours Birmingham schools for two weeks every March. Devised specifically for teenagers, the style fuses together humour, factual information, theatrical metaphor, contemporary music and personal testimony in a fast-moving, episodic structure to engage and challenge all. Each year’s tour explores a different issue relevant to the lives of teenagers; previous themes have included image, prejudice, bullying and sex and relationships. RSPA also offer follow-up workshops exploring the theme or theatrical techniques of the production, and each school is provided with a follow-up pack providing ideas for use in PSME, RE and Drama lessons. |
